1. Drip soap dish @dorandtan £37.00 This ceramic dish is a calming and beautiful interpretation of ripples on water. Hand thrown in Cornwall.

2. Wall-mounted soap dish, @londonbathers £27.00 A minimal space-saving solution for showers or small basins. These are designed and made in Britain with soap donated to charities.

3. Cork soap dish @irishantverk £8.00 Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree, harvested gently without harming the tree that continues to capture even more CO2 as it regrows the bark. This wonderful natural resource is also fully biodegradable.

4. Wells recycled glass soap dish @ethicalsuperstore £8.50 This ocean-hued simple design is made in Spain from 100% recycled glass. A very durable, easy to clean product that should last more than a lifetime.

5. Koha Beauty bamboo soap dish @wearthlondon £6.50 Handmade in South Korea, this soap dish is made from the abundant and fast-growing bamboo plant and protected with a plant based non-toxic lacquer. It comes package-free, only wrapped in tissue paper.

SUSTAINABLE IKEA HACK

When you can’t find the perfect wardrobe, think outside the box... This is an #ikeahack using the IVAR shelving system as the base. It’s one of our favourite @IKEA products because the raw wood makes it infinitely customisable and by using a renewable material like wood in this product, IKEA avoids using fossil or finite materials. IKEA is actually making big strides towards sustainability and claims that all their wood is to be FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified by the end of 2020. This is something we’re still researching to see if they have lived up to the promise. Has anybody else heard more?

We also used rattan in this project because it is an exceptionally sustainable wood, being the quickest developing tropical wood that renews in 5 - 7 years.
.
The doors were made using the IKEA IVAR end panels, but we cut the legs off the bottom so the doors could open. The rattan was stapled in and thin pine slats were screwed to the back to keep it all secure. We also secured more pine wood from P.O. Joyce Timber merchants (a family business operating in north London since 1663) to the sides of the wardrobe and the front, so that the doors could hinge properly.

We won't lie, a lot of love and effort to get these wardrobes looking like they did, but the results are worth it right?

Here's a quick tour of the rest our 70's inspired ex-council flat project in Clerkenwell, EC1, London. Recently renovated with both sustainability and affordability in mind. Certain high street and @ikea items collected over the years mix in with vintage finds (from @ebay, @retrouvius, @the.peanut.vendor, @antikmodern, car boot and market sales). Grey cork floors from @colourflooring were laid throughout because of their warm-to-foot, sustainable and waterproof properties. Plywood kitchen by @holte.studio.
